Discipleship Classes

We take Jesus seriously when he said the greatest commandment was to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul…mindstrength.” Discipleship finds its roots in intentionality. Our classes aim to help you grow strong in the Lord, and we believe that when we engage our mind and intellect, God will meet us in a way we have never experienced before.

Starting September 12th, we will be relaunching our Sunday & Wednesday Discipleship Classes. You can read more about them and register below:

Sunday Morning Classes

1st Corinthians…..Lessons From A Church In Turmoil

Lew Franklin | Room D138
Sept. 12th – Oct. 17th, Immediately after first service

In this letter the Apostle Paul gives every follower of Jesus clear direction concerning the Christian life, specifically about immorality, sex, marriage, divorce and Christian liberty. He tells us how we are to conduct ourselves in church worship, how to use spiritual gifts, the meaning of love, and thoroughly explains the doctrine of resurrection for believers. 1st Corinthians is a letter 3000 years old that was also written for us in the 21st Century.

Encountering the Holy Spirit: Understanding the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Pastor Mike Lawver | Room D137A
Sept. 12th – Oct. 17th, Immediately after first service

As disciples of Jesus, we need to understand the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives and the meaning and significance of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Jesus told His first disciples that they were not to do anything until they were “baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-5).” In this six-week class, we will learn more fully who the Holy Spirit is, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at salvation versus the Baptism in the Spirit, and the purpose and results of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit.

Good News: Know What and Why You Believe

Ken Metzler | Room D139
Sept. 12th – Oct. 17th, Immediately after first service

This class offers guidance and instruction to all believers, including those who have recently accepted the Lord. It is designed to help build your life in Christ on a firm foundation. The class is a study on 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. It includes: The deity of Christ and the Trinity. The formation of and the inerrancy of the scriptures, and how to maximize our devotion time. Christ died for sinners…why the blood and are we sinners? Christ was buried…our sin nature has been buried with Him, and the battle between our flesh and spirit. Christ rose on the third day… God’s promise of eternal life, heaven and our new glorified bodies. Class may include a study on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, pending the available weeks for the semester.

Names of God

Louis Block | Room D138
Sept. 15th – Oct. 20th, 7:30-9PM

One of the best ways to know God better is to learn His names. In studying Scripture, God reveals His character through His many names. As we explore the definition of each of His names, such as Jehovah Jireh (God is provider), we will learn another facet of who He is. Each week we will discuss a couple of God’s names, where they are found in the Bible and what every name means. Rather than just a simple translation, we seek a deeper understanding, asking God to reveal to us who He is, personalizing His name in our lives.
